    1. Gargle With Warm Salt Water

    Our throat hurts when the cells in the mucous membranes become swollen and inflamed. Salts primary function is to draw out water. When you gargle with salt water, salt shrinks the swollen cell and ease the pain. It also washes away excess mucous which lets you drain your nose properly.

    You will need:

    • 1 cup of water
    • ½ teaspoon of table salt


    Heat water until it’s warm. Mix in salt. Then gargle. Repeat three times a day. Don’t do it more than three times a day. You will risk drying out healthy soft tissue which will make things worse.

    2. Suck On Garlic

    Garlic is probably the most powerful remedy. It can cure a sore throat among other things. It contains a compound called allicin which can kill the bacterias that cause pain and irritation.

    You will need:

    • 1 fresh clove of garlic


    Slice the clove of garlic in half. Place one piece in each cheek. Then suck on it. Occasionally crush your teeth against it. But don’t bite. Do this once every day.

    • 1 tablespoon of honey
    • 1 cup of water


    Heat water until it’s warm. Mix the ACV and honey with warm water. Then drink it.

    If you don’t like the taste and don’t want to swallow, mix 2 tablespoons of honey with ½ cup of warm water. Then gargle once a day.

    4. Drink Marshmallow Root Tea

    If you don’t know it, marshmallow root is a herb. It has been used for centuries in North America and Europe as a remedy. It contains a substance called mucilage which helps soothe mucous membranes in the throat.

    • 1 tablespoon of dried root
